(a) Requirement
The Secretary of the Army should establish requirements for a networked, autonomous kinetic capability designed to protect ground combat, support, and mobility platforms against Group 1 and Group 2 unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).
(b) Unit commonality
The requirements established under subsection (a) shall prioritize unit common architectures to ensure that detection, tracking, and kinetic interception capabilities are interoperable across disparate brigade combat team elements.
(c) Technical specifications
The capability required under subsection (a) shall integrate the following features:
(1) Passive and active sensors for the persistent detection and tracking of UAS threats.
(2) Autonomous kinetic effects capable of neutralizing threats with minimal operator intervention.
(3) Mesh networking to allow for sensor-to-shooter handoffs between multiple ground platforms.
(d) Report
The Secretary shall submit to the congressional defense committees a report on the hardware and software components identified to meet this requirement, including an implementation timeline for the fiscal years 2028–2032 Future Years Defense Program (FYDP).
(e) Congressional defense committees defined
In this section, the term congressional defense committees has the meaning given the term in section 101(a) of title 10, United States Code.
