Section 1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the No Settlements for January 6 Law Enforcement Assaulters Act.
(a) Definition
In this section, the term covered individual means an individual who has been convicted of an offense involving assaulting a law enforcement officer, including a violation of section 111 of title 18, United States Code, or a violation of section 432 of the Revised Statutes of the District of Columbia (sec. 22–405, D.C. Official Code), in connection with the events that occurred at or near the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
(b) Limitation
Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no Federal funds, including amounts appropriated under section 1304 of title 31, United States Code (commonly known as the Judgment Fund), may be obligated or expended for any legal settlement to a covered individual if the claims giving rise to such settlement are based on alleged harm suffered by the covered individual—
(1) during the events that occurred at or near the Capitol on January 6, 2021; or
(2) from prosecution for an offense relating to such events.
