Veterans Burial Allowance and Reimbursement Act of 2026

This Act may be cited as the Veterans Burial Allowance and Reimbursement Act of 2026.

Section 2303 of title 38, United States Code, is amended—

(1) by striking the heading and inserting Deceased veterans: burial and funeral expenses; plot allowance;

(2) in subsection (a)(2)—

(A) by striking who is not covered by section 2307 of this title and;

(B) by redesignating subparagraphs (A) through (C) as subparagraphs (B) through (D), respectively; and

(C) by inserting before subparagraph (B), as so redesignated, the following new subparagraph:

(A) The deceased veteran dies as a result of a service-connected disability or disabilities.

(C) ; and

(3) in subsection (d), by striking subparagraph (B) or (C) and inserting subparagraph (C) or (D).

Section 2307 of such title is repealed.

Such title is further amended—

(1) in section 2303(b)(1)(B)(ii), by striking the period at the end and inserting; and;

(2) in section 2308—

(A) in subsection (a)—

(i) by striking in subparagraph (B) or (C) and inserting subparagraph (C) or (D); and

(ii) by striking, or pursuant to section 2307 of this title,; and

(B) in subsection (b), by striking subsection (a)(2)(C) and inserting subsection (a)(2)(D); and

(3) in section 5101, by striking sections 2303, 2307, and 5121 and inserting sections 2303 and 5121.
