Section 1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the Fair Access to Justice for Union Members Act.
(a) In general
Section 101(a)(4) of the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1959 (29 U.S.C. 411(a)(4)) is amended by striking That any such member may be required to exhaust reasonable hearing procedures (but not to exceed a four-month lapse of time) within such organization, before instituting legal or administrative proceedings against such organizations or any officer thereof: And provided further,.
(b) Effective date
The amendment made by this Act shall take effect on the date that is 18 months after the date of enactment of this Act.
