Section 1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the Protecting Union Representation and Elections Act or the PURE Act.
(a) In general
Section 401 of the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1959 (29 U.S.C. 481) is amended—
(1) in subsection (a)—
(A) by striking either; and
(B) by striking or at a convention of delegates chosen by secret ballot; and
(2) in subsection (d), by striking or by labor organization officers representative of such members who have been elected by secret ballot.
(b) Effective date
The amendments made by this Act shall take effect on the date that is 18 months after the date of enactment of this Act.
