Cashless Bail Reporting Act

Section 1. Short title

This Act may be cited as the Cashless Bail Reporting Act.

(a) In general

Not later than one year after the date of enactment of this Act, and annually thereafter, the Attorney General shall make publicly available a list of each State and unit of local government that permits the release pending trial of a person charged with a covered offense on personal recognizance or upon execution of an unsecured appearance bond.

(b) Covered offense defined

In this section, the term covered offense means a criminal offense that the Attorney General determines poses a clear threat to public safety and order, including—

(1) an offense involving a violent or sexual act, such as murder, rape, sexual assault, carjacking, robbery, burglary, and assault; and

(2) an offense that promotes public disorder, such as looting, vandalism, destruction of property, rioting or inciting to riot, or fleeing from a law enforcement officer.
