Unmasking Networks of Virtual Election Interference and Lies Act of 2024

Section 1. Short title

This Act may be cited as the Unmasking Networks of Virtual Election Interference and Lies Act of 2024.

(a) Report required

Not later than 30 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Director of National Intelligence shall submit to the congressional intelligence committees (as defined in section 3 of the National Security Act of 1947 (50 U.S.C. 3003)) a report detailing the interference by the Islamic Republic of Iran in United States domestic politics that occurred during the period beginning on October 7, 2023, and ending on the date of the enactment of this Act.

(b) Contents

The report submitted pursuant to subsection (a) that include the following:

(1) A list of the social media accounts being run by the Islamic Republic.

(2) A description of United States protestors to whom the Islamic Republic has provided financial support.

(3) A list of the protests in the United States organized by the Islamic Republic.

(4) A description of any Iran-led e-mail campaigns targeted at officials of the Federal Government, the government of a State, or United States voters.

(5) Such additional information about the interference described in subsection (a) as the Director finds relevant.

(6) A description of which entities within the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran are involved in the actions described in paragraphs (1) through (5).

(c) Form

The report submitted pursuant to subsection (a) shall be submitted in unclassified form, but may include a classified annex.

(d) Public availability

Not later than 30 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Director shall make available to the public on a website of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence the unclassified portion of the report submitted pursuant to subsection (a).
