Section 1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the Disease Intervention through Nutrition Education Act or the DINE Act.
(a) Definition of disease prevention and health promotion services
Section 102(14) of the Older Americans Act of 1965 (42 U.S.C. 3002(14)) is amended—
(1) in subparagraph (B), by inserting screening for eligibility for Federal and non-Federal (including community-based) food is medicine programs and before routine;
(2) in subparagraph (C), by inserting, including referrals to Federal and non-Federal (including community-based) food is medicine programs, if appropriate after caregivers; and
(3) in subparagraph (D), by inserting (including from medically tailored meals and produce prescriptions) after improved nutrition.
(b) Administration of nutrition services
Section 205(a)(2)(A) of the Older Americans Act of 1965 (42 U.S.C. 3016(a)(2)(A)) is amended—
(1) in clause (vi), by inserting, including the use of innovative approaches, including food-based interventions, such as produce prescriptions after systems; and
(2) in clause (viii), by inserting and innovative approaches, including intervention programs, such as produce prescriptions, after including strategies.
(c) Nutrition education
Section 214(2)(C) of the Older Americans Act of 1965 (42 U.S.C. 3020e(2)(C)) is amended—
(1) by inserting interventions and after other; and
(2) by inserting and referral to food-based intervention programs after and counseling.
