Jalisco Cartel Neutralization Act

Section 1. Short title

This Act may be cited as the Jalisco Cartel Neutralization Act.

(a) Defined term

In this Act, the term appropriate committees of Congress means—

(1) the Committee on the Judiciary of the Senate;

(2) the Committee on Armed Services of the Senate;

(3) the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate;

(4) the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs of the Senate;

(5) the Select Committee on Intelligence of the Senate;

(6) the Committee on the Judiciary of the House of Representatives;

(7) the Committee on Armed Services of the House of Representatives;

(8) the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives;

(9) the Committee on Homeland Security of the House of Representatives; and

(10) the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the House of Representatives.

(b) Briefing requirement

Not later than 90 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, and every 90 days thereafter, the Secretary of Defense shall provide a briefing to the appropriate committees of Congress regarding any progress made toward capturing or killing the leadership of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (also known as the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación or CJNG).
