COACHES Act
This bill died when its Congress ended.
Bills don't carry over between Congresses. Without re-introduction in a new session, it cannot advance.
School coaches and sports administrators can now deduct expenses from their federal taxes the same way teachers do. Currently, teachers can deduct up to a certain amount for classroom supplies and materials, but coaches aren't included. This bill expands that tax deduction to cover coaches and sports administrators who work at least 900 hours a school year, and allows physical education teachers to deduct nonathletic supplies.
- Include interscholastic sports coaches and administrators as eligible educators for tax deductions
- Require 900 hours of work during a school year to qualify as eligible educator
- Remove exclusion of nonathletic supplies from physical education course expense deductions
