Section 1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the Combatting Auto Robbery at the Source Act of 2024.
(a) Establishment
The Attorney General shall establish within the Department of Justice a National Auto Theft Bureau.
(b) Duties
The Bureau shall:
(1) Act as a national repository for information related to auto theft, including by facilitating real time information sharing agreements between Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies across the country who are combatting auto thefts.
(2) Provide training, resources, and recommendations to private industry, the public, and law enforcement agencies on how to combat auto theft.
(3) Establish a pilot program to provide to State and local law enforcement agencies to facilitate information collection, information sharing, and implementation of best practices related to auto theft.
