(1) Study

The Secretaries of the military departments concerned shall conduct a feasability study on—

(A) the construction of one or more facilities of covered multi-unit military housing in military housing areas specified in subsection (b); and

(B) the partial use of a facility of covered multi-unit military housing in a military housing area specified in such subsection as a military child development center.

(2) Report

Not later than 120 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretaries of the military departments concerned shall submit to the Committees on Armed Services of the House of Representatives and the Senate a report that includes a summary of the findings of such study.

(b) Military housing areas specified

The military housing areas specified in this subsection are military housing areas for which the applicable rates of basic allowance for housing under section 403 of title 37, United States Code, are, on the date of the enactment of this Act, among the highest twenty-five percent of such applicable rates for all military housing areas located in the continental United States.

(c) Definitions

In this section:

(1) The term covered multi-unit military housing means housing that is—

(A) not Government-owned or Government-controlled;

(B) provided under subchapter IV of chapter 169 of title 10, United States Code; and

(C) contains more than one individual unit of housing.

(2) The term military child development center has the meaning given such term in section 1800 of such title.
