(a) Military mortuary services

Section 1486(a) of title 10, United States Code, is amended—

(1) by inserting or if the individual arranging for mortuary services and supplies for a decedent believes the local commercial mortuary services and supplies are undesirable, after prohibitive,;

(2) in paragraph (6), by striking this section and inserting paragraphs (1) through (5); and

(3) by adding at the end the following:

(7) Any person not otherwise covered by this section if a mortuary facility under the jurisdiction of the Secretary concerned has the capacity and personnel to provide such services and supplies.

(b) Effective date

The amendments made by this section shall take effect on the date of the enactment of this Act and shall apply with respect to a death occurring on or after such date.
